The man? Sébastien Tellier.
Born in 1975, he was discovered by the french band Air who signed him to their own label, Record Makers. Despite some recognition for songs like "La Ritournelle" he didn't get his big mainstream breakthrough until his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, which caused great controversy in France since his song, "Divine", was largely in English. Around the same time he released his third album, "Sexuality" which was produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, one half of the legendary duo Daft Punk.
He's a talented man and plays most of the instruments on his tracks himself, and sings not only in french and english but also in spanish and italian. Apart from his albums he has also contributed to a number of soundtracks including Lost In Translation, Narco and Steak in which he also played one of the characters
As for personal style, he's got plenty of it. He's usually dressed in a suit, without looking like a stiff. Rather he looks what the french might call déshabillé, with his clothes disheveled, a long flowing mane of hair paired with a full beard and a pair of wrap-around shades. Kind of like a hungover jetsetter who's been out partying all night. Or like if The Dude started dressing up and wore suits instead of just a bathrobe. Either way it all goes perfectly with his oversexed persona.
Down below is one of his songs, "Kilometer". Granted it's remixed, and might be a bit more up-tempo than the original but it still gives a taste of the dreamy landscapes that Tellier creates with his music, and the raw sensuality that oozes from it. Enjoy...

Killer! Love Tellier's style as well as his music. Really like the Lebowski flirt as well, though I might have gone with describing him as "the love child between the Dude and Tom Ford". That would have been the ultimate description. Anyways, great stuff. Hit you up tonight!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, that is the ultimate description actually. I would change but you know my policy..
ReplyDeleteThanks for the other night. No other word for it but epic!
